on a sad note

A true American hero, Desmond Doss has passed away at the age of 87. I've never met the man, but he lived not too terribly far from me. He was a medic with the 77th Infantry Division during the Second World War and was the first conscientious objector in the history of the U.S. Military to win the Congressional Medal of Honor.
